Thank You for Attending COM's First Silent Movie Nights!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for COM’s inaugural Silent Movie Nights! It was a truly magical experience, and we’re so grateful to our wonderful community for making it a success. A special shout-out to the incredible Heidi Kuzma, whose expert piano accompaniment brought the films to life with passion and precision. Your support and enthusiasm made this event unforgettable—thank you again for being part of this special evening! |
TLPC Kicks Off Lenten Season!TLPC would like to invite the COM congregation to join at 10am! The practice of eating King Cake started with the historically Catholic tradition of enjoying this treat between the Christian events of Epiphany which falls on January 6th and Fat Tuesday, the day before fasting for the Lenten season begins. In more recent times, Christians have symbolically enjoyed King Cake on Fat Tuesday as a commemoration of the start of the Lenten season on Ash Wednesday where most Christians choose to abstain from certain luxuries such as eating sweets. The fairly recent tradition of hiding a plastic Baby Jesus in the cake is probably more of a fun party game than anything religiously significant, but any time someone finds Jesus is worth celebrating! Some other more whimsical notions related to King Cake are that the person who finds the baby is “King for a Day”, or that the baby will bring the finder good luck. It has also become a tradition with some that the finder is required to provide the King Cake at the following year’s celebration. |
